First Aid in Morocco: Emergency Steps with the Right Numbers

In a medical emergency, the first minutes are decisive. Yet most first aid guides online use French numbers (15, 18) — useless in Morocco. This is the first guide fully adapted to Morocco, with correct emergency numbers and Rabat hospital information.

⚠️ This guide does not replace first aid training. When in doubt, immediately call 141 (SAMU) or 150 (Civil Protection). In Rabat: SAMU Rapids 06.25.67.74.33.

The Golden Rule: Protect — Alert — Rescue

  1. Protect — Secure the area
  2. Alert — Call 141 (SAMU) or 150 (Civil Protection)
  3. Rescue — Provide first aid while waiting for help

1. Cardiac Arrest: CPR

  1. Check consciousness: shake shoulders and ask "Are you OK?"
  2. Call 141
  3. Place victim on their back on a hard surface
  4. Place heel of hand on center of chest
  5. Compress hard and fast: 100-120 compressions/min, 5-6 cm deep
  6. Alternate 30 compressions and 2 breaths (if trained)
  7. Continue until help arrives

2. Choking: The Heimlich Maneuver

Adult: 5 back blows between shoulder blades, then Heimlich maneuver (fist above navel, pull inward and upward).

Baby (<1 year): 5 back blows face-down on forearm, then 5 chest compressions with 2 fingers. Call 141 immediately.

3. Severe Bleeding

  1. Call 141 or 150
  2. Press firmly with clean cloth on the wound
  3. Never remove the dressing — add layers if needed
  4. Maintain pressure until help arrives

4. Severe Burns

  1. Cool under running cold water for 15 minutes
  2. Remove clothing/jewelry (unless stuck to skin)
  3. Cover with clean damp cloth
  4. Call 141 if extensive or deep

5. Loss of Consciousness: Recovery Position

If the person is breathing: turn them on their side. Tilt head back slightly. Call 141.
