Understanding Ambulance Types in Morocco

Morocco has only 1,760 ambulances for 37 million people. 90% of medical evacuations are handled by private operators. This guide explains the different types.

Ambulance Classification

  • Type A (Transfer) — Basic transport, stable patient. 250-400 MAD.
  • Type B (Emergency) — Monitoring, defibrillator, nurse. 600-1,200 MAD.
  • Type C (ICU) — Intensive care, doctor + nurse. 1,500-2,500 MAD.
  • VSL — Vehicle for seated, autonomous patients. 150-250 MAD.

Which Ambulance to Choose?

  • Stable patient → VSL or Type A
  • Post-surgery → Type B
  • Critical condition → Type C
  • Regular dialysis → VSL or Type A
